Concerts in the Park Seating Starts with Noon Race for Best Spots

When it comes to getting a spot for the popular Santa Barbara Concerts in the Park show, for many people it’s all about a sprint, six hours prior to the music.

The Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department keeps people off the lawn at Chase Palm Park, until noon. That’s when they are allowed to secure a spot, and either stay there for the rest of the afternoon or come back for the show starting at 6:30 p.m.

Many people have their favorite location up front, and some like to be a short distance back so they can get a good view of the bands, the dancing and still chat with their friends.

Today’s show, featuring Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries, is a boogie-woogie band that draws over 3000 people to the free event.

There are six concerts this summer.
