California Drought Relief Funding Could Help with Water Saving Plans

Nearly $700 million in drought relief funds in California could help water districts during the driest months many can recall.

Assemblyman Das Williams (D) 37th district, says he hopes the money will help districts in several ways to get through the drought.

Some of the funds will provide financial assistance for food and housing to those who are impacted by the drought.

Other money will pay for upgrades to water systems to make them more efficient, and also help with reclaimed water projects.

Williams says he urges California residents to cut back on watering their landscapes, which is one of the biggest impacts on water use in the state.

This comes at a time when Cachuma Lake, the main water source for the Santa Barbara region, is at 34 percent of its capacity and dropping.
