Plans for a New Summerland Fire Station Now on the Back Burner

A $12-million dollar bond measure to fund the proposed new fire station in Summerland, was considered for the November ballot. Now it is on the back burner.

The decision has been stalled after discussions before the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District. The panel is not ready to put it before the voters.

The project on the drawing board is a two story building on Lillie Avenue across from the current Summerland station, which is aging and has needed upgrades, or a replacement building for several years.
