Santa Maria Elks Honor Firefighters at Annual Dinner
The Santa Maria Elks Lodge hosted its 37th Annual Firefighters Appreciation Dinner Wednesday evening.
More than a hundred local firefighters were honored for their service and enjoyed a free dinner.
“Tonight is the night when we honor all of our fire first responders. We do two dinners per year; one for the law enforcement and one for for the fire department,” says Myrl Wallace, Exhalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 1538.
Each department awarded a firefighter of the year. Santa Maria Engineer, John Acosta, and Santa Barbara County Fire Captain, Scott Jopes, were two of several firefighters honored.
