Firefighters Rescue Dog from Fatal Train Accident

Ventura County Firefighters extricated a driver after a collision with an Amtrak train but she did not survive.

They did however manage to save her Chihuahua found sitting beside her.

The dog was given to Animal Services for care until a relative arrives.

Another driver is being treated for moderate injuries after being hit by a falling crossing arm.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident that happened at the crossing by Los Posas and Fifth streets in Camarillo.

Crews plan to work overnight to repair the safety arm.

Los Posas between Fifth and Pleasant Valley won’t re-open until 9 a.m. New Years Eve.

Officers said the accident is a reminder to stop, look and listen at all train crossings.
