Evening Anchor – KCOY/ KKFX (Santa Barbara)
One newsroom serving three television stations. That’s what’s happening at the combined operations of NewsChannel 3 and Central Coast News, and now we’re looking for a primary evening co-anchor to help re-launch live local news coverage on KCOY and KKFX for Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
This position will co-anchor live newscasts at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00. It will involve a lot of writing, producing, mentoring and teamwork. The successful candidate will have a reel that shows polish, poise, warmth and professionalism in connecting with viewers both from the anchor desk and in the field. This is not a news-reader position! It’s not a “kick back and phone it in and then go to the beach” position! (But we do have great beaches you can enjoy on your days off!) The job is based at the main studio in Santa Barbara, but will involve a fair amount of travel to other parts of the coverage area for public speaking, community involvement and enterprise reporting.
What you must be: a team-player, a producer, a mentor, passionate about quality journalism and personalized, compelling storytelling. What you must NOT be: A diva. NO DIVAS ALLOWED!
If you have a MINIMUM of four years experience as a regular anchor on a local newscast, if you have the desire to roll up your sleeves and do the hard work needed to grow this product, we’re eager to see your reel. Send your link with resume, news philosophy, and salary expectations to: Jessica Davis at jessica.davis@npgco.com or mail to: 730 Miramonte Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109. NPG of California is an E.O.E. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!
