Convicted Child Rapist Given 206 Year Prison Sentence

A Santa Maria man will spend more than 200 years in prison for being convicted of being a serial child rapist with two of the victims his own stepchildren.

39 year old Felix Nicolaswas also convicted of trying to hire a fellow county jail inmate to kill his two young accusers after they came forward to police to report their abuse years after the fact.

Nicolas jr will spend the rest of his life in prison for being a convicted child rapist.

“Its important that this man be kept off the streets to ensure public safety and ensure that he can’t victimize any other children”, says Santa Barbara County Senior Deputy District Attorney Kevin Duffy who prosecuted the case against Nicolas.

Duffy says the jury trial conviction and sentencing of Felix Nicolas could not have happened without the courage and bravery of two of Nicolas’ victims, sisters identified in court as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 who reported their abuse to police and testified in open court.

“The defendant, who was their Godfather and their father-figure, was abusing that position of trust and authority and committing every imaginable sex crime against these two little girls when they were between the ages of 9 and 13”, Duffy says.

Nicolas was also found guilty of trying to hire a hitman to kill his two child accusers in the case, Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2, as he sat in Santa Barbara County Jail in 2011 awaiting his jury trial.

The court heard Nicolas tried to hire a fellow jail inmate to commit the murders who then told a jail guard about the offer.

“He molested me and my sister multiple times in the years that we lived with him”, said one of the two Jane Doe’s after the sentencing.

Now in her 20’s, the woman who’s identity remains protected, said the rape and abuse took place as she and her sister lived with Nicolas in low-rent motels in Santa Maria.

She encourages other victims to follow her and her sister’s example and come forward and report cases of child rape, molestation or sexual abuse to authorities.

“Its like a big weight being lifted off my shoulders, a sense of empowerment”, Jane Doe told Central Coast News, “being able to come up and say, “you were wrong, you did this and now you have to pay your price”, its scary, but don’t be afraid because in the end you are so much stronger than you were in the beginning.”

The defense attorney for Felix Nicolas plans to appeal his verdict and 206 year prison sentence.
