7 Hour Police Standoff Has Bizarre Ending

The Oxnard Police Department surrounded a home on 2500 block of Timbercreek Trail near Rio del Norte Elementary School early Tuesday morning.

Neighbors told NewsChannel 3 they started hearing gunshots about four a.m.

Oxnard Police were trying to serve a warrant for Alberto Govea, 20, who is wanted for multiple felonies.

Dozens of police cars and a police Bearcat vehicle surrounded the home. Seven hours after the standoff began, officers heard someone inside the home yelling for help. They moved in and discovered Govea tried to hide between the wall, but he fell from the top floor to the bottom floor.

Govea was taken to the hospital as a precaution, checked out and then arrested.

Rio del Norte Elementary was open and students were on campus throughout the ordeal.
