Mega Millions jackpot jumps to near-record

Time is running out to buy tickets for the Mega Millions drawing. The jackpot is growing and so are the lines of people trying to get their hands on the prize.

The lottery jackpot grew to $636 million on Tuesday, just $20 million short of the largest jackpot ever, which was split between three winning tickets in March of 2012.

Since October 2012, there have been 21 drawings with no winner. The odds are 1/259 million. But people are still taking a chance. In fact, 11-million tickets are expected to be sold every hour in 43 states.

The drawing is at 8p.m. But if no one wins, the mega millions jackpot is likely to reach $1-billion dollars.
