Local Resident Strips Down for Reality Show
A local resident is opening up about his adventures participating in a new and very extreme reality show.
The Discovery Channel’s “Naked and Afraid,” drops contestants off into a remote jungle with no food, and no clothes on their backs.
Forrest Galante is very comfortable in the outdoors. He was born and raised on a farm in Zimbabwe. But, at the age of 14, his family was forcefully evicted from their home because of political unrest. He made his way to Santa Barbara and attended UCSB.
One day he caught an episode of “Naked and Afraid,” and sent producers an e-mail. A few weeks later, he found himself in the jungles of Panama.
Galante and a complete stranger were naked and left alone to forage for food, and water for 21 days. Galante said, “Everything you see is real and is not staged.”
On top of that, there is no prize money at the end. Galante says it’s purely for the love of the outdoors and the sense of accomplishment for completing the journey.
He survived the adventure and is keeping busy with his outdoor activities and new business.
