Dispute Brings Large Police Presence to Santa Barbara Neighborhood

Santa Barbara police surrounded a home on Barranca Avenue after a reported dispute between a landlord and his tenant Monday morning.

Witnesses say the tenant, a middle-aged Latino woman, ran to a neighbors home and called police. The Santa Barbara Police Department responded and surrounded the two-story duplex with guns drawn. Authorities arrived expecting to find a stabbing victim, but that turned out not to be true.

The situation quickly calmed down as police were able to talk with the man inside the home.

Neighbors say they heard a loud argument before police arrived. Witnesses say the woman had been evicted from the residence but had refused to leave.

No arrests were made and it is not clear if the woman had any injuries. She was taken away by ambulance.
