‘Happy Camp’ Brush Fire Stopped at 50-Acres in Moorpark

Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a wildfire in Ventura County that was fanned by strong Santa Ana winds.

Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Bill Nash says there are no open flames remaining within the fire that burned about 50 acres of dry brush in Moorpark early Tuesday.

Officials have released two water-dropping helicopters and some firefighters.

The fire was sparked about 2 a.m. near a housing development, ranching property and a golf course.

Nash says crews are keeping watch for embers that could be spread by the strong winds.

A wind advisory is in effect for the area until midnight Tuesday, with gusts as high as 35 mph expected.
