Highway 154 Open, One Dead in Early-Morning Crash

Crews have re-opened the pass just before 9:00 a.m. after a car accident. There may be some residual slowing so allow for some extra travel time.

The road was closed between Cathedral Oaks and Old San Marcos Pass while emergency teams worked to clear the roadway.

Santa Barbara County Fire said one person died in a single car rollover near Painted Cave Road north of San Antonio Creek.

The California Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 5:33 a.m. Friday. CHP told drivers to use Highway 101 to avoid the closure.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
