CALM helps provide hundreds of children gifts for Christmas

Students, teachers, and staff at Santa Barbara High School have adopted 16 families in need this holiday season. It’s all part of CALM’s 4th annual “Adopt a family” program. The students donated money, purchased and wrapped gifts that will be delivered next week.

More than 200 at-risk and low-income families from Ventura to San Luis Obispo counties will be receiving gifts this Christmas. Thanks to the generous donations from businesses, individuals and other organizations, hundreds of children will be getting their wish lists met.

Some of the items included toys, and clothes for the children. The parents requested some basic items such as money for groceries, pots and pans, curtains, soap, and socks. Two hundred and thirty families have been adopted this year, but 14 more are still in need. A donation of $100 will be able to meet the needs of a family of three this Christmas.

CALM, child abuse listening mediation, is a non-profit organization in Santa Barbara that services families who have suffered from child abuse. If you’d like to donate, or adopt a family, go to:http://calm4kids.org/events/in-the-community/
