Officials Identify Driver in Goleta Pursuit

Santa Barbara County Sheriff officials said 52-year-old Weldon Patterson Fewell is the driver involved in a short pursuit in Goleta. He is a resident of San Diego.

Around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday gunshots were fired from a sheriff deputy and a California Highway Patrol officer towards the driver.

Fewell was hit once and remains in stable condition at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Investigators said Fewell rammed his truck into a patrol car after an attempted traffic stop.

Fewell was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
