Organic Soup Kitchen Feeds the Community

The Organic Soup Kitchen served hundreds of Thanksgiving meals in Santa Barbara today.

The group hosted a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Veterans Memorial Building on Cabrillo Blvd.

This is the 5 th year the Organic Soup Kitchen invited everyone in the community to attend.

The first meals were served at noon, and the main room was packed.

Anthony Carroccio, the kitchen founder, said he was supported from the kitchen to the dining room by countless volunteers. Many provided table service, and others were preparing the meals on an assembly line.

Each plate had turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, desserts and a beverage. They all also had a cup of soup, of course.

The round tables also encouraged each person to bond with others and create a family spirit.

Live music was part of the program for four hours.

The kitchen is looking for more funding to prepare weekday meals for veterans and the homeless, along with a Christmas meal next month.
