Ventura Bans Pot Dispensaries

The city of Ventura won’t be welcoming medicinal marijuana dispensaries to town.

Ventura City Council members voted 4- 3 to ban mobile and stationary dispensaries within city limits.

Mayor Mike Tracy, Ventura’s former police chief, proposed the ban.

Tracy does not think the city should have to regulate the controversial dispensaries even if pot could some day be sold like liquor.

Residents with prescriptions will still be able to grown their own plants for their own medicinal use.

Council members Brian Brennan, Carl Morehouse and Neal Andrews were on the losing side of vote. They also lost a battle to create a study group to look into the issue.
