Local Non-Profits Excited for Edwards Theater Grand Opening Proceeds

The New Edwards Theater in Santa Maria is celebrating their grand opening with a charity event.

Sales from $2 movie tickets, popcorn and drinks will go to three chosen nonprofit organizations.

One of the three organizations says the donations come at a time when funding for one of their programs will end.

The Santa Maria Youth and Family Center helps low-income family with mental health and purchasing essentials such as clothes and shoes.

They plan to put money from the charity event towards keeping one of the programs afloat for at least another year.

The two other organizations are Play, Inc. and Northern Santa Barbara United Way.

Regal Entertainment Group will announce how much they’ve raised for each group on Thursday.
