Foodbank Hosts Turkey Drive

The Santa Barbara County Foodbank wants to provide a large number of turkeys this season so they are kicking up their efforts with food drives up and down the coast.

On Saturday the Foodbank hosted a turkey drive at an Albertsons parking lot in Santa Maria. Residents came together and volunteered at the event while others made donations.

The Foodbank has a goal of 3,000 turkeys and chickens. So far this month they have collected over 1,000.

Darlene Chavez, a Foodbank Coordinator, said its extremely important to reach that number because the community depends on it.

Donations are welcome until November 22.
