Wheeler Canyon Fire 80% Contained
Firefighters in Ventura County downgraded the impact of the Wheeler Canyon Fire near Santa Paula to 60 acres.
Cooler weather and lower humidity conditions are expected to help firefighters who have the blaze 80% contained as of Friday morning.
At the height of the blaze on Thursday afternoon, voluntary evacuation orders were in effect for residents in the 6800 block of Wheeler Canyon Road. The fire has not damaged any houses and is not expected to threaten any more.
On Thursday VCFD employed 130 firefighters to battle the blaze. On Friday morning, 110 firefighters remained to complete the job. Three firefighters were injured doing their work.
