Strong Winds Again Forceast on South Coast
Strong winds are again expected in the Santa Barbara area Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. A Wind Advisory was issued from 7:00 p.m. Thursday to 4:00 a.m. on Friday.

NewsChannel 3 Chief Meteorologist Alan Rose expects winds to pick up later in the day and provide another warm night for an area including Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, Summerland and Montecito. Winds could hit 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.
On Wednesday tree limbs and other vegetation blew down in strong winds from a weather effect called “sundowner winds.” The winds rush down the mountains to the north of the Santa Barbara area, gathering speed and heating up as the air moves toward the ocean. At 10:00 Wednesday night, the temperature in Santa Barbara was a warm 80 degrees.
A woman leaving work in Goleta was briefly trapped when gusty winds forced branches on to her car. The vehicle was damaged but she was not hurt.
Travelers on Highway 101 may encounter difficulties in the Gaviota area from high winds. Drivers on Highway 154 north of Santa Barbara may experience similar conditions.
