Paso Robles Teen Killed In Rollover
A Paso Robles teenager died when the S-U-V she was driving overturned in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in Templeton.
It happened just after 4:00 Monday afternoon, near Highway 46.
The California Highway Patrol collision report shows 19-year-old Jeanette Montes was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer with her two young brothers as passengers, when for some reason, the vehicle’s right side tires drifted onto the right shoulder.
Montes over-corrected, turning the wheel sharply to the left. The S-U-V spun out and rolled at least twice, partially ejecting Montes through the driver’s side window.
She suffered major head trauma and died at the scene.
The 6-year-old and a 15-year-old boys suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sierra Vista Hospital. Investigators say Montes and her brothers were wearing seat belts.
C-H-P investigators say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident. “The cause is still under investigation. We have quite a bit of witnesses,”said CHP Officer Adrian Ayala, who is based in Templeton.
Investigators are asking anyone else who witnessed the fatal accident to call the Templeton C-H-P office at (805) 434-1822.
