Cal Poly Wins Floral Awards

Members of the Cal Poly Floral Design Team made the most of their flowers and won four top 10 awards at the annual California Floral Association Student Competition in Carpinteria.

Winners included Camille Duckett, who won a third-place award, Emily Gaul who won a fourth-place award and Eva Reutinger who won a fifth-place award. Rachel Maiorino and Robin Somogyi shared a ninth-place awa

Their flowers fit the “Brilliant” theme. Team Coach Melinda Lynch said the students had to be creative with flowers grown in California.

A Cal Poly alumnus was also a winner. Greg Lum won a “Top Ten” Florist Design Competition, and will go on to represent the State of California at the Sylvia Cup next year.

The competition was put on by the California Floral Association.
