Expo Kicks Off International Marathon

5,000 runners are expected for the Santa Barbara International Veterans Marathon Saturday.

There will be a full and half marathon.

The full marathon begins at Dos Pueblos High School at 7:27 am.

The half marathon begins at 7:12 am at the Ben Page Youth Center.

The finish line will be at the Santa Barbara City College La Playa Stadium.

Awards will be handed out in several categories.

The event began this weekend with an expo at the Earl Warren Showgrounds where vendors and event staff were on hand. Runners picked up their packets, numbers, t-shirts and a special timing chip for their shoes.

Many local streets will have restrictions during the race, but most should be clear by mid day.

The final portion of the run will be dedicated to veterans. Over 200 flags will be set up on Shoreline Drive en route to the finish line. A military band will also be performing.

More details and video will be posted here later today.
