Santa Barbara Votes are Cast

It’s was an exciting Tuesday night for incumbents and some fresh faces leading the election in Santa Barbara.

Supporters of Gregg Hart started celebrating early at Arch Rock Fish restaurant on Anacapa Street in Santa Barbara.

They believe their candidate will be sworn in alongside incumbents Frank Hotchkiss and Bendy White early next year.

Hart headed to the party with his mother by his side.

Hart says he is ready to hit the ground running having served two terms eight years ago.

Hard said his team made 17,000 phone calls Tuesday and started working at 5 a.m.

He said he is gratified with the results.

Mayor Helene Schneider handily won re-election.

Voter turn-out for the odd-year election was low.

More than 16,000 people voted, just 35 percent of registered voters, voted in the city.
