Polls Close In Ventura

Ventura will have at least one new face on its city council after Tuesday’s election.

Ventura is the only city in Ventura County with an odd-year City Council election.

Turnout appeared sluggish at the polls Tuesday.

There were nine candidates on the ballot running for four open City Council seats. Each seat carries a four-year term.

Incumbents Neal Andrews, Mike Tracy and Jim Monahan ran for re-election. Council member Brian Brennan chose not to run again.

The other candidates are David Swaffer, Lorrie Brown, Richard Francis, Paul Meehan, Erik Nasarenko, and Brian Lee Rencher.

The winners will be sworn in Dec. 2, the same day the city council will choose the next mayor.
