Santa Barbara Police Foundation Fundraiser Helps to Purchase New Gear
The Santa Barbara Police Foundation fundraiser Sunday raised over $100,000 for the department and a large portion of the money will go towards new gear.
The event was held at the Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel. A crowd of about 280 attended.
Many officers with the department were at each table, to share a brunch with supporters.
This year funds will pay for new ballistic blankets used in high risk rescues, and also night vision scopes that officers can use in dark locations where suspects are hiding.
Among those attending were Chief Cam Sanchez, Sheriff Bill Brown, and District Attorney Joyce Dudley.
Auction items included a day of training with the SWAT team, and also a workout with a K-9 dog.
The past events have raised money to buy rifles for the motorcycle patrol officers, and also to help pay for new K-9 teams.
Funds are also available to help officers who have had losses requiring special assistance.
