Man Arrested for Stabbing Cousin Multiple Times

A 31-year-old man was stabbed several times on Oct. 29 in an attack that led officers to the 800 block of Bath Street.

Santa Barbara Police have arrested the victim’s cousin, 24-year-old David Perez Aviles, for attempted murder charges.

The investigation revealed that Aviles and the victim lived together on the 200 block of Bath Street. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and was able to walk to a nearby residence to ask for help.

He remains in the hospital at this time and is expected to survive. Police said the two men were having an argument in the front yard of their house.

Investigators do not believe this is a gang incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Aviles was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $500,000.00.
