Victim Describes School Bus Crash

NewsChannel 3 spoke to one of the students involved in Wednesday’s school bus crash in Sisquoc.

Julisa Gutierrez was one of those taken to the hospital?fortunately her injuries were not serious.

Her bus driver is still in the hospital and not able to speak, but she is expected to fully recover.

One of Julisa’s school mates is also recovering from a broken leg.

This morning Julisa was waiting for the bus again, but she’s terrified after the accident.

“My friend…she was like crying a lot,” Gutierrez said, “and then everyone was just scared like, ‘Did that just happen?’ and then I just totally lost it for a couple seconds.”

The bus was heading to Righetti High School.

Swinging equipment from a fertilizer truck ripped through the bus’ windshield and hit the driver in the face.

The bus driver is being credited for saving lives and preventing the bus from flipping.

She’s only driven for the school district less than a year.
