LAX Shooting Affected Some Local Flights

Local travelers planning to fly out of Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and SLO encountered some delays due to the shooting at LAX in Los Angeles. United Express flights out of Santa Barbara’s airport were delayed through midday. One United Express flight from the SLO Airport scheduled to leave at 11:30 a.m. was delayed 90 minutes. Most flights are back to normal, but airport officials urge those with flights to check with their airline..

Oxnard resident Valeria Velsaco was eating in a restaurant in Terminal 3 at LAX when she saw people running and heard screaming through the terminal.

She and others were told to move to the rear of the eatery and hide. Velasco then heard gunshots. She told NewsChannel 3 she was waiting for a Virgin America flight at 10:50 a.m. which was delayed.
