Auction of Oprah Items Begins Saturday Morning

Some call it the “yard sale of the century.”

Locals and fans of Oprah Winfrey have been stopping by the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club to get a glimpse of some of the talk show queen’s personal belongings. The items will be auctioned Saturday.

Items include fine art, autographed portraits, rugs, antiques, furniture and other items such as electric bikes.

Nearly 600 items will be up for auction. The lowest suggested bids on some items start at $150.

Oprah Winfrey is donating items as she renovates her home in Montecito. Some of the items up for auction come from her homes in Chicago, Hawaii and Indiana.

More than 60,000 people across the country and thousands more in other countries are also bidding on some of the items using an online process.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit Oprah’s Leadership Academy Foundation College Fund for her students in South Africa.

The auction begins Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club.

Online registration at http://www.kaminskiauctions.com/the-oprah-winfrey-collection/ is required to attend.
