Santa Barbara Tourism Proves to be Huge Moneymaker

More than 100 Santa Barbara business, restaurant, and shop owners gathered to talk tourism, money and how to make more of both.

The meeting was organized by Visit Santa Barbara and held at the Fess Parker Resort on Wednesday.

They all came together to hear the results of a year-long survey that asked visitors all about their experience and time spent in Santa Barbara. Not surprisingly, the numbers were positive for the city and for businesses.

The survey was handed out to hotel guests, day visitors and those staying in town with friends.

According to the results, tourism in Santa Barbara is a $1.5 billion industry that attracts more than 6 million people annually.

Visit Santa Barbara says the numbers are good but it is alway looking for ways to improve. The survey pointed out that the winter months and mid-week visits could be better. The tourism group will be pooling its resources to try and make improvements in those areas.
