Police investigate animal cruelty in Paso Robles

A 5-month-old steer has suffered from serious burns after he was lit on fire by an unknown suspect(s).

The Paso Robles Police Department received a report early Saturday morning by a man who said that his son’s steer was burned at the agriculture barn at the Paso Robles High School.

The man says that his son is a student at the high school and a member of the National FFA Organization. As part of this program, his son houses his steer at the agriculture barn.

On Saturday morning the man went to the barn to feed the animal and found that it had been burned. The animal suffered significant burn injuries but is expected to survive.

Police are still investigating how the animal caught fire. They have collected evidence at the scene and are asking for the public’s help.

If you have any information on the person(s) who committed the animal cruelty you are urged to contact the Paso Robles Police Department.

You can also submit a “TEXT TIP” by texting “slotips” and your message to CRIMES (or 274637). You do not have to give your name. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction, and you can remain anonymous.
