Shark Attack Victims Remembered At Surf Beach

One year ago an Orcutt man rode his last wave when he was bitten by a shark near Surf Beach.

Friends and loved ones gathered to remember and pray for the victim on Wednesday.

Francisco Javier Solorio Jr., 39, was surfing with three friends when he was attacked and bitten in the upper torso by a great white shark in the Lompoc area.

Solorio’s friends and relatives observed five minutes of silence and released balloons at 11 a.m. right around the time he was attacked.

Solorio’s family also visited with the Ransom family this week.

Luke Ransom was killed by a shark three years ago this month at the same beach.
