Peabody Charter Wins Compost Award

A celebrity chef tested out his culinary skills at Santa Barbara’s Peabody Charter School.

Chef Nathan Lyon presented the school with Completing the Cycle Award for its recycling efforts.

Harvest Blend Compost works with Peabody School by collecting cafeteria food-waste, composting it and returning it to the school garden, where it is put back into the earth to begin the process again.

This process completes the cycle of recycling.

Lyon celebrated the nationwide Million Tomato Compost Campaign to boost the soil health and growing power of community gardens across this country — just by adding compost to the soil.
