Mexican Consulate Brings Services to Central Coast

Mexican immigrants lined up outside a Santa Maria building today to renew their lost or expired Mexican IDs and passports.

The unique event is held by the Mexican consulate who says many immigrants are unable to travel to their office in Oxnard.

For the first time, the consul sent out a team to travel the Central Coast.

They are in Santa Maria this weekend and will be in San Luis Obispo next week.

The consul hopes to process IDs and passports for 2,500 Mexican citizens in those counties by the end of next weekend.

These documentsshould help the owner with employment, opening a bank account traveling back to their homeland.
