Large Fire Response Finds Small Blaze Near Hwy 154
At first, fire crews for Los Padres National Forest thought they might have a significant blaze when they received the first reports of a brush fire along Highway 154 near Camino Cielo.
Calls for assistance went out quickly to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
But upon arrival, Los Padres crew were able to quickly extinguish a fire that charred only 1/10 of an acre of land.
The fire was first reported before 11:00 a.m. with significantly embellished details of flames leaping hundreds of feet in the air. Those reports turned out to be false.
The additional Santa Barbara crews were called off and the fire was extinguished within minutes.
