Santa Barbara Foundation names Man and Woman of the Year

A who’s who of Santa Barbara turned out to honor the 2013 Man and Woman of the Year, awards handed out by the Santa Barbara Foundation Tuesday afternoon.

The Man of the Year honor went to Bill Cirone for his civic and educational roles.

The Woman of the Year is Anne Smith Towbes, for serving on several local boards, including Santa Barbara Revels, which presents performances and events for diverse groups.

“It’s really about the volunteerism,” foundation president and CEO Ronald V. Gallo said. “So the two recipients today are magnificent examples of people who have given their time, their heart, passion and yes, their dollars to things that are important to Santa Barbara.”

For the past 71 years, the philanthropic foundation has named two recipients who are making a significant and positive impact in the Santa Barbara community.
