Qupe Winery has Ownership Change

One of the oldest wineries in Santa Barbara County, Qupe, where the first Syrah vines were planted, is now going through an ownership change.

Owner Bob Linquist has struck a deal with businessman and investor Charles Banks, who will now be the majority owner. Linquist will still be the winemaker.

Banks lives in Santa Barbara and also owns the historic Mattei’s Tavern Restaurant.

Linquist began growing grapes in the region 30 years ago.

Qupe has not only the award winning Syrah, but the winery is also known for other varietals including viognier, chardonnay, and grenache.
