Burglary Suspects Lock Down Schools for Hours

Shandon Elementary and Shandon High School were on lockdown for hours Friday after reports of a burglary near both schools.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has set up a perimeter around a home just after 12:30 p.m. on the 800 block of Mesa Grande Drive.

Deputies believe there are people inside stealing items out of a vacant home. One person has been detained.

A sheriff’s spokesperson said it is unknown if the suspects have weapons.
