Walk & Roll Promotes Pedestrian Safety
The 3rd annual International Walk and Bike to School Day took place Thursday in Oxnard.
Hundreds of children and their parents walked or cycled to Hollywood Beach Elementary School.
Schools taking part designate a day this month.
Organizers said the event raises awareness about the need for safe routes.
It also promotes physical fitness for entire families.
Safe Kids Ventura County offered nutrition and safety tips to the participants.
Jim Estomo from the Channel Islands Beach Community Services District, Vianey Lopez from the Hueneme Beach School Board, and Tracy Gallagher, a representative from Supervisor John Zaragoza walked along with the children.
