Edwards Theatre to Help Bring New Shops to Santa Maria Town Center

Right now, only 60 percent of Santa Maria Town Center Mall is filled with stores. The mall hopes this new theater to help bring tenant occupancy to 90 percent by the beginning of next year.

This theater will seat 2,800 people and have 14 screens–one is an RPX, or a Regal Premiere Experience screen.

This screen only exists in seven California theaters.

They’re hoping this will attract movie-goers from as far as Paso Robles and Santa Ynez just in time for the holiday shopping season.

The mall says they’re in talks with ten national retailers; they can’t say which ones yet, but they say the theater is huge in helping.

They believe this theater will help Santa Maria Town Center be what it once was.

“Just full of life again,” said Amber Lease with the mall, “the buzz, bags, shopping, the overall experience right now that i think people look elsewhere to get. There’s no reason we can’t be that again.”

The multimillion-dollar theater began construction about a year ago. Its now finishing final touches and has a final opening date of November 22nd with a major headliner.
