New Waterfront Walkway Beautifies Santa Barbara Harbor
A walkway from SEA Landing and the boat launching ramp at the Santa Barbara harbor to Cabrillo Blvd. has been beautified with new plants and trees.
The area had been in need of an upgrade. Weeds had taken over in several locations.
It now has a line of young palm trees and drought tolerant plants. Where the walkway intersects the bike path there are more new plantings and decorative rocks.
Waterfront Director Scott Reidman says the project has two phases and a cost of $250,000.
The main path is used by visitors coming off cruise ships, but it’s also a walkway for thousands of residents and tourists going on boat trips.
“We get many many something like 30-thousand visitors to SEA Landing each year to go on the whale watching trips and the diving trips each year. It’s nice for them as well,” said Waterfront Director Scott Reidman.
Sometime after mid November the other end of the walkway will be improved with new concrete and safety rails for those walking to the water’s edge at the harbor.
Part of the funding for the project came from the Santa Barbara Beautiful group.
