Marsh Advances to US Mid-Amateur Quarters

One former champion beat another one. Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame member Kevin Marsh beat defending champion Nathan Smith on his way to the quarterfinals at the U.S. Mid-Amateur in Birmingham, Alabama.

Marsh, who won this event in 2005, defeated the four-time winner Smith 2 and 1 in the second round. Marsh, a Dos Pueblos High School graduate, followed that win with a third round victory over Keith Unikel 1 up.
