SBCC Remains Undefeated After Taking Down L.A. Southwest 44-7

Santa Barbara City College football team improves to 5-0 on the season. It’s their best start since the1975 squad that opened 7-0.

On Saturday the Vaqueros, ranked No. 13 in Southern Cal beat L.A. Southwest 44-7 at La Playa Stadium.

Josh Martin made quite a splash on Saturday in his first college start at quarterback.

The 6-4, 210-pound freshman from Beaumont High threw for a school-record five touchdowns for 198 yards. Martin was also the team’s leading rusher with 66 yards on 14 carries, giving him 264 total yards. He accounted for six TDs, including a 21-yard dash that ended with a dive and stretch over the right pylon with 3:41 to go in the second quarter.
