Cal Poly Falls To Yale 24-10

Cal Poly hit the football field against Yale for their first meeting ever between these two schools Saturday afternoon.

Senior quarterback Henry Furman passed for 199 yards and two touchdowns while junior tailback Tyler Varga rushed for 114 yards as Yale rallied from a 10-7 halftime deficit to upset No. 18 Cal Poly 24-10 in the first-ever matchup of Big Sky vs. Ivy League football teams Saturday afternoon in Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

Senior placekicker Bobby Zalud kicked a 53-yard field goal as the first half ended, giving Cal Poly its 10-7 lead at the break. Yale, however, held the Mustangs to just 37 yards on 18 plays in total offense, one first down and zero points in the second half, the first time Cal Poly has been held scoreless in the second half since the final game of the 2010 season, a 22-21 loss to UC Davis.

Cal Poly, which had a six-game home winning streak snapped, fell to 2-3 on the year while Yale remained unbeaten at 3-0.
