SLO Bomb Task Force Called to Hearst Castle

Members of the San Luis Obispo County Bomb Task Force safely removed and opened a suspicious package found in a UPS delivery truck at Hearst Castle Wednesday afternoon.

The UPS driver noticed the package set for delivery to Hearst Castle and alerted California State Park authorities, who called in the bomb experts.

The package was remotely removed from the delivery van and safely opened. Wires, rocks and clothing were located inside.

The delivery truck was already in an area away from public tours of Hearst Castle, so there was no impact on visitors. Some Hearst Castle employees who were nearer the vehicle were evacuated for a short period of time.

The investigation continues to determine who may have sent the package.
