Gibb & Patterson Win Weather-Delayed AVP Tournament

After waiting two weeks, it took about ten minutes for Jake Gibb and Casey Patterson to win their third straight AVP Tournament.

A bad storm in St. Petersburg Florida forced the men’s final to be suspendedagainst former UCSB star Theo Brunner and ex-Santa Barbara resident Nick Lucena.

So the final was resumed today at Santa Barbara’s West Beach ahead of this weekend’s AVP stop. Gibb and Patterson had won the first set in Florida and were up 11-10 when play was halted. They picked up right where they left off and finished off Brunner and Lucena 21-19 in the second set.

The main draw for the AVP Santa Barbara Open begins play tomorrow at 11 a.m. and runs through Sunday. The event is free for the public to attend.
