Power Outage Hits Santa Maria Town Center Mall

A power outage affected about 3,000 Pacific Gas and Electric customers and the Santa Maria Town Center Mall Wednesday afternoon.

The outage happened about 5 p.m. in the area around West Church Street and 142 Town Center East.

PG&E officials tell NewsChannel 3 a construction crew working near the mall accidently hit underground power lines, causing the outage.

Shoppers and mall employees were forced to leave the building.

Power has been restored to all customers and the mall is expected to reopen Thursday morning.
