Oxnard airport control tower on closure list

The Federal Aviation Administration placed 11-air traffic control towers at small California airports on closure lists due to budget cuts known as sequestration.

The FAA list includes the Oxnard Airport on 5th Street. On April 7, Airport Manager Jorge Rubio said use of the tower will start being phased out over four weeks.

The closure will leave pilots to coordinate movements by themselves.
Airport management plans to hold a meeting to come up with a plan of action.

Air traffic towers located at airports in Monterey, Orange and Riverside counties are also on the closure list.
